Community Preparedness

The City of Alameda Fire Department coordinates the emergency management and disaster preparedness program for the City by working with the Fire and Police department, city staff, partner agencies, businesses and Community Members to minimize risk by actively seeking to mitigate hazards, to prepare for, respond to, and successfully recover from natural or man made disasters when they strike.

In its efforts to prepare and inform the community and its residents in case of disasters, the City of Alameda Fire Department offers the following training programs, notification methods, and city planning and response information:

Access & Functional Needs:  2024 Emergency Disaster Planning Community Survey

We are gathering data about community members who may require assistance during an emergency evacuation or relocation, focusing on at-risk populations and those with access and functional needs. Your participation is voluntary. The information will be updated annually and accessible only to City emergency services staff during large-scale emergencies, not for day-to-day responses. City of Alameda For further assistance. please call or visit the Alameda Free Library Office hours, every 4th Monday of the month from 6:00 pm to 7:30 pm. Participants must conduct an annual update to their entries to keep the database current

Training:

The Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) program provides training to Alameda residents and employees of Alameda businesses to increase self-sufficiency in a disaster. Participants learn skills that will enable them to provide emergency assistance to their families and neighbors.
