The Public Works Department, the Alameda Unified School District, and the Police Department invite the public to the first meeting to discuss potential improvements to the five-legged Central Avenue/Third Street/Taylor Avenue intersection.
When: Tuesday, April 30, 2013 at 7:00 p.m.
Where: Encinal High School Cafeteria (210 Central Avenue)
What: Modify intersection at Central Avenue/Third Street/Taylor Avenue to:
- Improve pedestrian/bicycle crossings
- Simplify the intersection
- Minimize inconvenience to residents
- Reduce congestion
- Improve student drop-off and pick-up
This meeting will be a working session that will include a review of community concerns, a presentation of potential concept ideas, and small group discussions where participants will be asked to review and develop options on how to best proceed.

Furthermore, Public Works staff has scheduled a second community workshop at Encinal High School Cafeteria on Thursday, May 30, 2013 at 7:00 p.m. to review preferred options. The Transportation Commission will review the recommended options on Wednesday, July 24, 2013 at 7:00 p.m. (City Council Chambers, 2263 Santa Clara Avenue).
