Fingerprinting service is performed by a part-time Police Services Technician. As a result, Live Scan services are by appointment only.
The applicant must have the Live Scan / fingerprinting paperwork in hand or he/she will be turned away and will have to reschedule for a later date. Live Scan / fingerprinting paperwork must be filled out completely.
Every applicant must be in possession of a valid form of photo ID to be Live Scanned or fingerprinted. Only US identifications are accepted; driver license, state ID card, military ID, permanent resident card (green card) or passport.
Students with only school ID must come with their parent and an acceptable form of ID. Temporary DMV printouts or similar ID's will not be accepted for any reason or at any time.

Payment must be in the form of CASH, CHECK or VISA/ MasterCard.
Live Scan / Fingerprinting are by appointment only. To make an appointment, please call (510) 337-8340 between the hours of 8:30 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday. Free two-hour parking is available for applicants in the Oak Street parking lot in between the Police Department and City Hall. Please note that parking must be in a marked "public" spot.
Each 15-minute appointment allows for the processing of one Live Scan Application or for processing up to three Ink Cards. Additional appointments will be required for additional needs. Applicants need to arrive a few minutes early.
Note: Late applicants may have to wait or will be rescheduled for a different date and time.
