Are you looking for a way to get more active in your community?

Interested in the future of policing in Alameda? Want to join a community based committee on determining the future of policing or learn about the history of racism in Alameda? The City is looking for you!

We are in the process of gathering residents and community members from across the Island (Bay Farm too) to begin participating in 3-5 community run subcommittees kicking off this Fall.

--Ideal candidates either live or work in Alameda.
--Have 3-5 hours a month for internal group meetings (likely over Zoom).
--Tentative timeline for engagement up to 8 months.
--Can commit to presenting findings at agreed to intervals to the City Manager, who will present the Committee's findings to City Council.

The committees are intended to be community based and are looking to work with the City. Committees will be made up of community members who are not elected officials or public officials.

Please send an email indicating your interest to participate to City Manager Eric Levitt by August 12: elevitt@alamedaca.gov.
