Update on releasing police video

Published on June 04, 2020

Update on releasing police video: Tuesday evening during the City Council meeting, Alameda Police Chief Paul Rolleri committed to residents to releasing all of the body camera footage from officers who were at the scene on May 23, when Alameda Police Officers attempted to detain an African American Alameda resident after they received a call for service. We are working on redacting the images of Alameda residents from that video to ensure privacy is protected and should be able to release the video tomorrow. Meantime, we also want you to know that this is the first time we have ever released body camera video, other than when it was legally required. We are taking the review of everything that took place Memorial Day Weekend and our police policies very seriously and with full transparency.
