The 2021 Alameda Firefighters Toy Program (AFTP) assures that Alameda’s lowest income families can provide holiday toys and gifts for their children, and we continue to struggle with the challenge of providing a Covid – safe program. As with last year, we will hand-deliver a $35 Target gift card to all children signed up for the program, instead of handing out toys to the younger children as we have in  past years.

Staff from the Alameda Food Bank, Alameda Head Start, WCDC, Alameda Point Collaborative and Alameda Housing Authority sites are currently signing up their families. We were able to served 800+ children and youth last year, but more than 1,000 are already signed up this year. We expect that number to grow to 1,500 meaning we need to raise over $50,000 to meet our goal.

We thank the organizations who have already stepped up as sponsors this year: Alameda’s Community Fund, Welfare Council, and Rotary & Kiwanis Clubs, the Bank of Marin, Christ Episcopal Church, Poppy Bank, Kelly Lux, the Alameda Police Foundation and ACI.

Thanks to their generosity, we are well on our way to assuring that 1,500 Alameda children will have holiday toys and gifts. But we haven’t nearly reached the amount needed for this year.

To do that we need your help with cash contributions to the AFTP through our GoFundMe Charity campaign at  https://gofund.me/f5010ffc or by mailing a check made out to the Alameda Firefighters Toy Program to AFTP, PO Box 6523, Alameda, CA 94501.

We appreciate the extensive support we have received from the Alameda community in past years; this year we need it more than ever.

Thanks,

The 2021 Alameda Firefighters Toy Program Foundation
