NEW SERVICE ENHANCES COMMUNICATION BETWEEN APD AND THE COMMUNITY

SPIDR Tech Provides Real-Time Updates When Waiting For A Police Response

The Alameda Police Department has expanded its capabilities to better serve the City of Alameda by launching the SPIDR Tech application.

SPIDR Tech will improve communication with smartphone users who call to report a crime to 9-1-1 or the Department’s non-emergency line.  The platform enables the Alameda Police Department to send automated messages to callers to notify them of their call status and when they can anticipate a response from an officer.

Once the call for service is complete, the caller will receive mobile-friendly surveys so they can provide immediate feedback regarding their public safety interaction.  These surveys will provide a direct line of communication between the community and the Department, allowing public safety officials to make more informed decisions at the operational level and identify areas for new or enhanced training.

As the case progresses, victims will receive updates to include name and contact information of the assigned investigator, relevant developments in the case, and case dispositions.

“We strive to provide the best service to the City of Alameda, and SPIDR Tech gives the Department another tool to enhance service, communication, and receive instant feedback from reporting parties,” said Nishant Joshi, Chief of Police.

Mobile callers requesting a law enforcement call for service can expect to receive the automated messages after February 7, 2022.
