Raise Your Voice! Story Slam at Rhythmix Cultural Works

An afternoon of spoken word is being planned by the Alameda Free Library and hosted by Rhythmix Cultural Works on Saturday, June 29, 2019, beginning at 1:00 pm. The story slam is a live storytelling event during which participants can share a true story, listen to the stories of others, or both.

Participants will have the opportunity to tell or read aloud a personal story (maximum of five minutes) based on the theme, “It seemed like a good idea at the time…” We’ve all had ideas that had unanticipated consequences; we’ve all made plans that have gone awry. Here’s your chance to tell your story of the perfect idea, of the perfect event, that didn’t end up as planned. Registration is required for those who want to share a story. Applications and guidelines are available at the Main Library at 1550 Oak Street, the West End Library at 788 Santa Clara Avenue, and the Bay Farm Island Library at 3221 Mecartney Road, and must be submitted by 8 pm on Wednesday, June 26, to any of the three libraries.

This free program is made possible through the generosity of Rhythmix Cultural Works. The program will take place at Rhythmix Cultural Works which is located at 2513 Blanding Avenue and is wheelchair accessible. Rhythmix Cultural Works is served by AC Transit routes 19, 20, 21, and 51A. Bicycle parking racks are available. For more information on this and other library programs, visit www.alamedafree.org/Events-directory/Calendaror contact the Alameda Free Library at 510-747-7713.
