The Alameda Police Department is excited to announce this year’s Community Police Academy. This immersive program offers community members the opportunity to gain firsthand knowledge about public safety practices and procedures.

The Community Police Academy is an eight-week program designed to provide participants with an understanding of the roles and responsibilities of the Alameda Police Department’s staff. Through interactive sessions, hands-on activities, and discussions, attendees will have the opportunity to:

  • Explore various aspects of law enforcement, including patrol procedures, crime prevention strategies, and community policing initiatives.
  • Interact with experienced officers from different units within the department.
  • Gain insight into the challenges and rewards of a career in public safety.
  • Foster stronger connections and mutual understanding between the community and law enforcement.

“We are thrilled to offer the Community Police Academy as a platform for community members to engage with the Alameda Police Department,” said Nishant Joshi, Chief of Police. “This program aims to bridge the gap between law enforcement and the community we serve, fostering transparency, trust, and collaboration.”

The Community Police Academy will run Tuesday evenings at 6:00 pm, starting April 30, 2024. The application deadline is April 19, 2024, and space is limited.
