HIGH STREET BRIDGE EMERGENCY REPAIR
JUNE 25TH – JULY 19TH

OAKLAND/ALAMEDA, CA – The High Street Bridge linking the cities of Oakland
and Alameda will undergo emergency repair from Tuesday, June 25th to Friday, July 19th
between the hours of 7:00 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. Traffic may be affected by up to 15 minutes
during construction. High Street Bridge Emergency repairs include the replacement of a traffic
barrier gate and cables.

The repairs are being completed on behalf of the Alameda County Public Works Agency, as
part of the Bridge Preservation Program. For more information, call (510) 777-2390.

The High Street Bridge is a two lane double leaf bascule bridge, which spans the Oakland
Estuary for 296 feet. A bascule bridge is a draw bridge that is counter-weighted so that it may
be raised or lowered easily. Approximately 30,000 vehicles cross the High Street bridge each
work day. For more information, visit the website at www.acpwa.org.
