February 2024 monthly update from the Alameda Police Department

Grand Theft: During the month of February, officers responded to 10 thefts of vehicle wheels. APD identified similar incidents reported in the months prior. Targeted vehicles appear to be Hondas and Toyotas. APD has directed patrols to areas where thefts appear to be concentrated. O’Reilly Auto Parts (Alameda locations only) is offering a 10% discount on wheel locks while supplies last.

Armed Robbery: On 2/8 at 12:03 am, officers responded to a report of a robbery at the 2300 block of Lincoln Avenue. An unknown subject entered a business, displayed a firearm, and demanded money from an employee. Officers learned the robbery occurred 10 minutes prior to the victim reporting the incident. The investigation remains ongoing. #24-00971.

Fatal Collision: On 2/11 at 12:56 pm, officers responded to a report of a collision at the intersection of Lincoln Avenue and Ninth Street. Responding officers determined a motorcyclist collided with a vehicle. The adult motorcyclist sustained major injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene. The driver of the vehicle remained at the scene and is cooperating with the investigation. The investigation remains ongoing. #24-01044

Vehicle and Pedestrian Collision: On 2/11 at 8:03 pm, officers responded to a report of a collision at the intersection of Santa Clara Avenue and Broadway involving a person driving a vehicle and a pedestrian. The investigation determined an adult pedestrian crossed the street against a red light as the motorist proceeded into the intersection. The pedestrian sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was transported for medical attention. #24-01048

Vehicle and Bicycle Collision: On 2/25 at 5:57 am, officers responded to a report of a collision involving a person driving a vehicle and a bicyclist at the intersection of Webster Street and Lincoln Avenue. The bicyclist sustained minor injuries and was transported to a local hospital as a precaution. #24-01391

Investigation Update: On 12/6 at 8:00 pm, officers responded to a report of a home invasion robbery at the 1400 block of Benton Street. Officers learned that three individuals entered three different residences while the victims were inside their apartments and stole property. On 2/20, APD and the United States Marshals Service conducted three arrest operations in three counties. Three arrests were made and a firearm was recovered. There are no outstanding suspects. #23-08258

Traffic Enforcement: APD officers issued 106 traffic citations and 51 warnings.
