City asks for feedback on Neighborhood Greenways and Slow Streets barricade removal by August 20 at Noon

We want to hear from you! The City of Alameda is creating a network of Neighborhood Greenways -- comfortable, low-stress streets designed to allow bicyclists and motorists to safely share the road, calm traffic, prioritize people walking and biking, and improve safety for all.

Take the City’s survey by August 20 at 12noon to learn about these Greenways, and to weigh in on when existing Slow Streets barricades should be removed.

Over 750 people have responded so far! The feedback we receive will be provided to the Transportation Commission at their August 28 meeting and the City Council on September 17.

Alameda does not have any Neighborhood Greenways today, but the Alameda Active Transportation Plan includes 10 miles of Greenways, on nine streets, to be implemented by 2030. They are essential to creating a connected, low-stress bikeway network in Alameda.

In 2024-2025, the Slow Street segments of Pacific Ave, San Jose Ave/Morton St and Versailles Ave will be converted to Neighborhood Greenways, and Slow Streets barricades will be removed. The City wants to hear from the community, as it starts to select treatments to use, such as speed cushions and neighborhood traffic circles, and develop designs for these first three Greenways. The first Greenway to be implemented will be along a segment of Pacific Ave, and a community workshop will be held this fall. Subscribe here to stay updated.
