The Alameda Police Department has taken action in a child exploitation case following an alert from a non-profit organization.

In June, the Wolf Project Inc., an organization focused on fighting child sex trafficking, sexual abuse, and sextortion, alerted APD to an Alameda man’s concerning online interactions with minors. Some of these actions included the sharing of explicit content and the maintaining of inappropriate online relations.

Over the course of several months, APD conducted an exhaustive investigation with the goal of reducing the harm. On November 2nd, members of APD arrested the suspect at his place of employment in Emeryville.

As of now, APD has identified several of the users he was in communication with. While the arrest is a critical step towards ensuring the safety of the community, the investigation remains ongoing.

This incident underscores the importance of parental supervision when it comes to monitoring online activities. APD encourages parents and guardians to engage in conversations with their children about online safety and the potential risks, and to take advantage of security and monitoring features that can help safeguard young individuals from online threats.

The Alameda Police Department would like to thank the Wolf Project Inc. whose vigilance brought these incidents to light. Their cooperation and commitment to our youth’s safety is appreciated.

The Alameda Police Department remains dedicated to ensuring the safety and well-being of our community and we remain committed to taking actions to address such crimes.
