The Alameda Police Department invites children, 6-15 years old, to join our officers for a day of fishing and fun. APD’s Casting with Cops is designed to connect officers and our island’s youth through educational fishing expeditions. Officers will work side-by-side with kids helping them bait, cast, hook, and release fish. During each trip, members of APD and California Department of Fish and Wildlife will teach kids about fishing conservation, water pollution, and water safety around our island.

Weather permitting, APD has six trips planned. All participants will be provided a life jacket and fishing equipment before launching out into the Bay on APD’s public safety boat. Lunch will be included.

Due to the program’s popularity and boat restrictions, space is limited. Please apply no later than 5:00 PM on Tuesday, July 12th. Applications will be selected at random and no previous experience is needed. One parent/guardian per child may attend, but it is not required. Any parent or guardian wishing to participate must supply their own equipment and possess a valid fishing license.
