Construction for the City’s annual street resurfacing project will begin soon and take place through August. The project includes the following streets:

  • Broadway, from Encinal Ave to Buena Vista Ave
  • Central Ave, from Grand St to High St
  • Clinton Ave, from Grand St to Park St
  • Delmar Ave, from the south end to Otis Dr
  • Grand St, from Fortmann Way to the north end
  • High St, from Otis Dr to San Jose Ave
  • Jackson St, from Grove St to High St
  • Lafayette St, from Central Ave to Clement Ave
  • Mound St, from Otis Dr to Fillmore St
  • Park Ave, from Central Ave to Santa Clara Ave
  • Pearl St, from Otis Dr to Fernside Blvd
  • Regent St, from the south end to Central Ave
  • San Antonio Ave, from Morton St to Lafayette St
  • Van Buren St, from Versailles Ave to Mound St
  • Van Buren St, from Mound St to High St
  • Versailles Ave, from Otis Dr to San Jose Ave

This project is split into multiple phases and includes concrete work (e.g. curb, gutter, and sidewalks), asphalt roadway work, and traffic striping and signage (which typically occurs once the other two phases have been completed).

Schedules for individual streets will vary and parking may be prohibited during construction. Please look for “No Parking” signs posted 72 hours prior to the date of work. Staff will work with AC Transit and Alameda County Industries regarding any impacts to bus or waste collection services.

California recently passed a law to improve safety at intersections by prohibiting parking within 20 feet of any marked or unmarked crosswalk. This length is approximately one parking space. As part of our paving project, red curbs will be painted at key intersections within this project, with consideration to major streets, streets with bike lanes or routes, and streets within the vicinity of schools.

Construction work hours are 8 am to 4 pm, Monday through Friday. During construction, you may experience full or partial road closures, minor disruptions in traffic, temporary prohibition of parking, and minor increases in noise levels and dust.

The City appreciates your cooperation and patience during this project. If you have any questions regarding this project, including construction concerns, please feel free to contact Alan Ta at ata@alamedaca.gov

This project is primarily funded by Alameda County Measure’s B and BB, Vehicle Registration Fund, and SB 1, the Road Repair and Accountability Act of 2017. For additional information, please visit https://www.alamedaca.gov/Departments/Public-Works-Department/Pavement-Management-Project-Phase-42.
