Alameda Police Month in Review July 2024

The following incidents represent a selection of the police activity that took place last month. A complete monthly summary can be found at www.alamedaca.gov/data.

Grand Theft: On July 5, at 7:24 am, officers received an Automated License Plate Reader (ALPR) notification regarding a stolen vehicle near Webster Street. Officers located the vehicle parked behind Target. While monitoring the vehicle, three individuals carrying unpaid merchandise left the store through an emergency exit and walked towards the vehicle. Once officers announced their presence, all three suspects fled on foot. All parties were located and arrested within a few minutes. The merchandise was returned to the store, and the vehicle was reunited with the registered owner. #24-04374

Sexual Assault: On July 5, at 10:00 pm, officers responded to the 500 block of Buena Vista Avenue for the report of a sexual assault. The victim was transported to a local hospital. On July 11, the suspect was taken into custody for multiple offenses. #24-04387 / #24-04406 / #24-4388

Homicide: On July 10, at 8:50 pm, officers responded to the 400 block of Kitty Hawk Road for the report of an individual with gunshot wounds. When officers arrived, they located four additional victims. An adult male was taken into custody at the scene. All five victims succumbed to their injuries. While there are no outstanding suspects, the investigation remains ongoing. #24-04508

Assault with a Deadly Weapon: On 7/24 at 9:30 pm, officers responded to the 2800 block of San Diego Road for the report of a physical altercation between individuals who knew each other. During the altercation, both individuals struck each other with objects that could have caused significant bodily injury. Both parties were arrested and declined medical treatment. #24-04835

Homicide: On July 26, at 4:08 pm, officers responded to the 400 block of Lagunaria Lane to conduct a welfare check. When officers arrived, they located two deceased individuals in the residence. The suspect was located at the scene. While there are no outstanding suspects, the investigation remains ongoing. #24-04874

Traffic Enforcement: APD officers issued 248 traffic citations and 51 warnings.
