Alameda Police Month in Review - December 2024

The following incidents represent a selection of the police activity that took place last month. A complete monthly summary can be found at www.alamedaca.gov/data.

Burglary:On 12/2 at 5:17 am, officers responded to the 2100 Block of Main Street for the report of an in-progress burglary. An individual entered a residence through an unsecured window and removed multiple items. During an area check, the suspect was located and arrested. The items were returned to the homeowner. #24-07574

Impaired Driving:On 12/3 at 4:55 am, an officer observed a vehicle traveling on the wrong side of the road with multiple occupants in the 700 block of Lincoln Avenue. The officer initiated a traffic stop and observed alcohol in the vehicle. After a series of field sobriety tests, the driver was arrested for DUI and driving without a license. #24-07601

Vehicle Theft: On 12/9 at 10:21 am, officers responded to the 400 block of Diller Street for the report of a stolen vehicle. The vehicle was briefly left unoccupied and running when it was stolen. On 12/10, with the help of a license plate reader notification, officers located the vehicle in the 1600 block of Pacific Avenue. The driver attempted to flee on foot but was found and arrested a short distance later. While searching the vehicle, officers located bundles of copper wiring and burglary tools. The vehicle was returned to the owner. #24-07719

Vandalism: On 12/13 at 8:03 am, officers responded to Encinal High School for the report of a vandalism. During the early morning hours an individual spray-painted derogatory language on the property. The individual was arrested. #24-07806

Theft:On 12/15 at 11:35 am, officers responded to the South Shore Shopping Center for the report of an in-progress theft. An individual entered a business and fled the area with unpaid merchandise. During the investigation, the individual was located and arrested. The items were returned to the store. #24-07848

Commercial Burglary: On 12/30 at 4:45 am, officers responded to the South Shore Shopping Center to investigate a burglary that occurred a few moments prior. During the incident, multiple suspects forcibly entered a business and removed merchandise from display cases. Officers collected evidence and video footage from the scene and no suspects located during an area check. The investigation remains ongoing. #24-08159

Traffic Enforcement:APD officers issued 77 traffic citations and 101 warnings.There were 15 DUI arrests.
