Urban Cycling 101 Day 2 Road Class

Join this free class offered by Bike East Bay, and funded by the City of Alameda, using Measure BB sales tax funds!

This class will cover on-road, on-your-bike practice sessions, working in small groups with certified instructors to improve your bike handling skills, emergency maneuvers, and ability to confidently and safely bike on all types of streets and pathways. Participants who participate in classes will receive a free pair of bike lights!

This class will be split into two parts:

  • Part 1, On-the-bike drills (2 Hours) : This first section includes a group orientation then an on-bike session in a controlled environment like a parking lot or playground blacktop, practicing bike handling and hazard avoidance skills in a relaxed setting.
  • Part 2, On-road group practice (2 Hours): For this second section instructors will take participants out on the road around nearby neighborhoods, streets, and paths, practicing our skills drills in a real world environment.

Participants are welcome to join for just Part 1, or stick around for both Parts 1 and 2. 

Note! Attending a “Day 1” Urban Cycling 101: Classroom Workshop or equivalent LAB Smart Cycling course is a prerequisite for this class. 

Please bring:

  • A functional bicycle.
  • Helmet is strongly recommended, and required for students under 18.
  • Snacks, water, and sunscreen.
