Volunteer & Community Service Opportunities

The Alameda Recreation and Park Department offers a wide variety of volunteer and community service opportunities for those in Middle and High Schools which count towards school community service requirements.

2024-2025 SCHOOL YEAR:
Alameda Youth Committee (AYC)
Get hands-on experience with volunteerism, leadership and event planning
Operation Green Sweep - 2025 Spring Session
Green Sweep is looking for tweens/teens who want to earn community service hours by helping to maintain and beautify our City parks and community centers
2025 Spring Teen Volunteer Program
This program is for Tweens/Teens who are interested in volunteering to work with youth at ARPD's Recreation Afterschool Program (RAP) during the Spring Session on Wednesdays after school from 3:00 pm to 5:30 pm

2025 SUMMER:
2025 Summer Teen Volunteer Program
This program provides the perfect opportunity for teens and tweens to work with K-4th Grade youth in ARPD WOW Programs in developing their skills while also earning valuable community service hours.
2025 Summer Operation Green Sweep
Come help to maintain and beautify our City parks and community centers!
2025 Junior Leader Program
For 9th to 12th Graders in Fall 2025 who previously participated in the ARPD Summer Teen Volunteer Program.  This program aims to prepare Junior Leaders for future employment and the possibility of working for ARPD.  Junior Leaders will have the opportunity to further develop their skills in working with youth while enjoying a meaningful and fun learning experience.
