The City of Alameda participates in an annual National Night Out, a police-community partnership looking to combat crime, drug, and violence within the city while promoting safety and neighborhood unity. National Night Out brings out community members from over 16,500 neighborhoods across the nation annually.
National Night Out (NNO) is an annual community-building campaign that promotes police-community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie to make neighborhoods safer and more caring places to live. Held on the first Tuesday in August, NNO events feature activities such as block parties, festivals, parade, cookouts, and various community events with youth activities, visits from emergency personnel, safety demonstrations, seminars and more. Participating in National Night Out is a wonderful way to strengthen community ties and foster a sense of unity and cooperation among neighbors. It’s an opportunity to meet and engage with local law enforcement and emergency personnel in a positive, fun, and informal setting. This collaboration can help improve communication, build trust, and create safer and more resilient neighborhoods.
