Welcome to the Public Works Department. We are responsible for Alameda’s public infrastructure, including assessment districts; integrated waste; streets; sewers; storm drains; sidewalks; street trees; traffic striping, signals, and systems; urban forest; and public facilities and fleet.

Urban Forest

This project includes maintenance of 60 acres of landscaped areas and medians in the public right of way.

Traffic Safety and Calming

Traffic safety and traffic calming are an ongoing priority for the City of Alameda. Safe streets are streets where drivers slow down and comply with posted speed limits.

Lagoons

In the 1950’s, the Utah Corporation created five connected lagoons along the southwest shoreline of Alameda. The South Shore Lagoon system brings in salt-water from the San Francisco Bay and supports diverse wildlife.

Erin brings over 10 years of progressively responsible experience planning, designing and delivering high quality public works services. Most recently serving as the department’s Deputy Director, she is well positioned to effectively steward Alameda’s public infrastructure and, ultimately, improve quality of life for Alamedans.
