Summer Teen Volunteer Program
Grades 7 - 12
This program is for youth who are interested in volunteering in a variety of Alameda Recreation and Park Department youth programs during the summer. NEW to this summer’s program: teens will have an opportunity to apply to volunteer to assist in the T-Shirt Baseball League! All volunteers will participate in Operation Green Sweep at least once during the summer. The program is a great opportunity to gain job experience and satisfy school community service requirements. Applicants must complete a volunteer application form and return it to the Recreation and Park Department, 2226 Santa Clara Ave, Alameda, CA 94501. Applicants will be contacted for an interview. Interviews do not guarantee acceptance into the program. Upon selection, volunteers must attend a training session. Registrations and/or interviews less than one week prior OR after training session dates will not be accepted. Limit 24 students per training session.

Operation Green Sweep
Grades 6 - 12
Green Sweep is looking for teens who want to earn community service hours by helping to maintain our city parks and community centers. Teens will meet ARPD Teen Staff at the Veteran’s Memorial Building on scheduled days to work on various park projects. Duties include but are not limited to park clean-up, light trash removal, weeding, etc. Equipment will be provided to participants for different projects. Transportation will be provided to and from the parks. Registrations will be taken until program is full. Program will be held weather-permitting. End of summer celebration for those who meet designated minimum volunteer hours.

2015-2016 Alameda Youth Committee

AYC is currently recruiting members for the 2015-2016 school year! We’re also seeking motivated youth leaders to participate in the newly established AYC Executive Board. Board members will play an integral role in decision making and leadership within AYC
Get involved with planning activities for teens: dances, excursions, training, community issues, fundraising and beyond! We are seeking serious and responsible teens who would like to get hands-on experience with leadership and event planning. Your creativity, past experience, social ability, and community spirit are needed to assist the Alameda Recreation and Park Department. A commitment is required and community hours will be earned when you participate with AYC. Applications are available at The Underground Teen Center, at ARPD and on the website. Interviews will be conducted prior to acceptance into the Committee.
