Summer Classes For Teens

Babysitter's Training

Ages 11-15

Learn the basics of being a responsible babysitter and be certified through the American Red Cross.  Class includes basic care of infants and toddlers from feeding to changing.  Teens learn age-appropriate activities, first-aid awareness, how to prevent accidents, and how to handle emergencies.  The Child/Infant CPR section will train the babysitter to act in emergency situations, to recognize and care for life-threatening respiratory or cardiac emergencies in infants and children.  Upon completion and satisfactory passing an exam at the end of the course, each participant will receive: 1) American Red Cross Babysitter’s Training Card and 2) Child/Infant CPR card.  This popular class is limited to 15 students, so sign-up early!

Dance 10 Camps:

Legally Blonde Summer Camp

Ages 8-18

Become a "Triple Threat"! Learn how to sing, dance and act - like a professional! You will be instructed on tips for auditioning, performance techniques, stage and theater etiquette, hair, makeup, costumes, sets, and lighting.  Learn the history of musical theater. Camp is run like a summer stock program, and is a great introduction to musical theater and is a concentrated training. Performance is a mini-version of "Legally Blonde" on June 20 at 7:00pm at Dance 10. No dresses or Jeans. Please bring lunch.  Jazz or Ballet shoes encouraged.  Fee includes costume and prop.

MAMA MIA Summer Camp

Ages 5 - 14

Driver Education Internet Study Course - Ages 15-18

Are you tired of asking your parents for a ride?  Are you at least 15 years old?  If so, this class is for you.  This is an interactive, online course with videos, animated driving scenarios and sample test questions.  Learn the rules of the road, major causes of traffic collisions, DMV procedures and much more.  Receive DMV-approved Certificate of Completion.  This class is a requirement for teens under 18 years old to obtain a learner’s permit and driver’s license.  A licensed instructor is available to answer any questions.  Sign up any time and take the online course at a time convenient for your schedule.

Alameda Community Sailing Center: Youth Sailing Camp

Discover Sailing Camp

Ages 7 - 13

Students learn the basics of sailing - including steering, sail trim, and knot tying in this fun, educational, and interactive camp! This camp is perfect for youth with little or no sailing experience. Special ARPD rate! The first 12 campers who sign-up will receive two weeks of camp for $500; a discount of $100! If you're put on a session waiting list, please call ARPD at 510-747-7529 for availability (the session and discount may still be available!). Cost is $600 after first 12 campers are enrolled.

Sailors pair with another student while sailing, promoting teamwork and communication. Students learn the fundamentals of sailing; steering, sail trim and knot tying. Open to all skill levels.
