Sector Three- East End
Sector 3 is led by Lieutenant Wayland Gee, who is eager to work with business associations, Neighborhood Watch leaders, and community members to address concerns, devise solutions, and ensure that the best police services possible are provided to the citizens of Alameda.
Sector 3 is situated on the "East End" of the island of Alameda, from Willow St. to the San Leandro Bay. This sector is comprised of many residential neighborhoods, the Alameda Theater & Cineplex, the Alameda High School, the Alameda Civic Center, and several business districts including the Bridgeside Shopping Center, the South Shore Shopping Center, and the Park Street Business District. Depending on patrol staffing and the time of day, Sector 3 is assigned anywhere from one to four patrol officers. In addition, the “Walking Beat,” consisting of two officers, has been recently reinstated to cover both the Webster Street and the Park Street Business District.
If your neighborhood is interested in organizing a neighborhood watch, you can contact the COPPS Unit at (510) 337-8305. They can assist you with training a block captain (or captains), give you helpful tips on crime prevention through a CPTED (Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design) evaluation, provide you crime information/stats for your community, and get you on the schedule for National Night Out in August 2014. A number of valuable resources can also be found on the Community Services/Assistance webpage.
Lieutenant Gee commands Patrol Team B, the K-9 Program, and the Community Housing Action Taskforce, (CHAT). He can be reached Saturday through Tuesday, from 11:00 am to 9:00 pm, at (510) 337-8320 or by e-mail: firstname.lastname@example.org
