A presentation of The Asian Art Museum of San Francisco  on Wednesday July 9, 2014 from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. in the Regina K. Stafford Meeting Room on the 1st floor of the Alameda Main Library, at 1550 Oak Street. Gorgeous presents highlights from an exhibition of the same name at the Asian Art Museum from June 20 through September 14, 2014.

The exhibition includes 72 uniquely stunning artworks drawn from the collections of the Asian Art Museum and the San Francisco  Museum of Modern Art. Spanning over 2000 years and dozens of cultures, these artworks are organized in an attempt to shift the focus from historical and cultural contexts emphasizing instead the unique ways each work announces itself or solicits a viewer’s attention. Left to their own devices viewers may gravitate towards the strange or familiar. Some artworks may be beautiful to the viewer, others, bizarre and challenging.
